Che Guevara visited India in 1959 with a group of Cuban representatives.He paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi ghat in Delhi and said that Mahatma Gandhi was his childhood hero.He also told that the non violence theory of Mahatma would not work in Latin America.
Che on July 1st met India’s then prime minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and her daughter Indira Gandhi at a dinner.He repeatedly asked their opinions about communism in China and Maoism.But he did not get the answer from them.Nehru who called himself as a socialist conveniently escaped the situation with diplomatic answers.
Che wrote this in his dairy.
